new LTD SPECTRUM 7" PIC DISC pre order NOW!
hiya,
thanks as ever to mark and the admin folks for letting me blatantly plug this one on here! i have seen this mentioned up on the boards already here, but just to formally announce that it is now ok to order the fabulous new -and very limited- spectrum picture disc 45. here's a paragraph or 2 of press bumph:
SPECTRUM AND TIM LOVE LEE / SPECTRUM AND CAPTAIN MEMPHIS (AKA JIM DICKINSON)
words may shatter / the lonely death of johnny ace (alt take)
next up on the great pop supplement is both a musical and visual mindbender of a 45! a total killer 7" picture disc featuring 2 collaborations between sonic boom / spectrum and tim 'love' lee and captain memphis aka legendary musician (stones / aretha franklin / alex chilton) and producer (big star etc...), jim dickinson.
total whacked out silver apples mash up one side and a wonderful smoked out, moog fuelled blues on the reverse. hugely acclaimed dj and producer tim 'love' lee and spectrum offer up 'words may shatter', a stunning silver apples / suicide flavoured freakout on side a, while the reverse features an unreleased out-take of the mighty 'the lonely death of johnny ace' from a collaborative project between sonic boom / spectrum and captain memphis. recalling the tragic, true story of master bluesman johnny ace who shot himself dead on christmas day 1954 and featuring an incredible vocal from the late, great jim dickinson, this take debuts here.
beautiful, op-art effect picture disc and acetate sleeving, this is a one off pressing of 1000 which is sure to go quick.
they really are as equally incredible on the eye as the ear, stunning acetate sheet op-art/psych packaging, look just amazing! it's £4.99 a copy plus £1 postage in the UK, or £2.50 postage anywhere else. paypal is best, but feel free to drop me a line on: thegreatpopsupplement@hotmail.com for availability. unlike recent projects on GPS like the spacemen / shjips split or the dj tones LP, i have no help from cargo on this one, and am doing all distro entirely off my own back- so order as many as you like, ebay hoarders normally discouraged- come and help yourselves! if you want copies in bulk i might be able to do something with the price....!
cheers everyone, and thanks again mark and co.... dom

Mine arrived the other day. Really impressed with the quaility of the music and the record itsef, which is much heavier than expected.
Quite interesting to watch the disc itself revolve on the turntable after having had several stiff drinks.....

excellent release! and not to mention the main thing, the music, i must say that black vinyl is really "dead" this seven inch is the most beautiful vinyl i have ordered in some time. music on it is rather chemical, what an ace. lovely stuff.
