New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
Just received my copy of this new release. My bonus record was clear though it says white below. Same label, catalogue number, cover. Single sleeve not gatefold. Looks like it's just been released.

Transparent Radiation (Organ Version) is great, hadn't heard this before. Jason sings It's Allright and it's pretty similar to the Spectrum version. Anyone know anything more about this release? Are these from the same sessions as For All The F**ked-Up Children? Thanks.

I think its a boot of the original. We have them at my shop. Sound quality is perfect. Bonus disc is nice too. Price is right as well.

I saw them at Amoeba in Hollywood this weekend. Was kind of freaked out by them. Really cool artwork though. They were $20, so I wanted to check and see what everyone here thought of them first before going ahead with the purchase.
Worth it?

Mine was €25 in total and shipped from Canada to Ireland so good value I think. No mention of the bonus record/tracks on the sleeve.
Isn't the artwork by Natty Brooker?
Are the songs that appear on this the same versions as those on For All The F**cked-Up Children though?

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
No. They're similar to Sound of Confusion. The bonus disc is made up of tracks from the Bomp/Spaceage cd re-issues. First time on vinyl for the organ version of Transparent Radiation as far as i know.Broc wrote: Are the songs that appear on this the same versions as those on For All The F**cked-Up Children though?

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
yeah where can i get this?
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
these definately seem like they were pressed from the Space Age reissue & remaster. Same track order, also you can't hear the tape hiss as much in between tracks. Also, they are pressed at a different speed. The original is definately faster, not sure which would be the "proper" speed but can only assume that its this new boot since its taken from a remaster, and not the original demo cassettes that Byron Coley put out some years ago.
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
Thanks for the info, yeah it looks like a vinyl version of the Spaceage CD.
I got it from Discogs, ships form the US, the 'Mr Black' listing (technically in the wrong listing). I e-mailed him to verify. Good seller and wrapped very well. Haven't seen it available from Europe yet. Saw the old 1990 vinyl version going for £28 on Ebay so seems reasonable value.

That guy seems to have sold out already
I'm sure some more will show up.
Very little publicity around this.

I'm going to Amoeba again this weekend. I'll try to buy extra copies.
PM me if you would like one. It would be $20 + postage to wherever you are.

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
My wife bought this for me on eBay the other day-WHAT A WOMAN!! We paid US $64.99 for SOC, PP, Performance and Taking Drugs.. all on 180g vinyl. Even after shipping this ain't bad as the 3 fire albums are $40 a pop in Melbournes better record stores so I figure that we got TDTMMTTDT for free at worst. My original LPs are knackered at this stage (or were stolen years ago), so a replacement will be good.
BTW the eBay seller has relisted the 4 LPs at a similar price.....

Where has the "organ version" of Transparent Radiation previously been released?
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
It's on the Space Age "Taking Drugs". There's nothing here we haven't heard before, but it's the first time on vinyl for that (as I think has been said upthread).
I have a passion sweet Lord...

Got my copy yesterday. The kind lady ringing my stuff up told me she's friends with Sonic's current drummer and he says Sonic is really pissed about this bootleg.
Supposedly he's in the process of putting out a proper reissue of it...........

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
I wonder how much stuff there really is left to release... I thought most of How The Blues Shoulda Turned Out was really good and the version of WWJ is perhaps my favorite. But it's hard for me to see that he could add so much more material to enhance these releases further.toomilk wrote:Got my copy yesterday. Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
I think the release he is working on is just a cleaned up version of TDTTMTTDT on vinyl...pretty much exactly what Father Yod has done here.
PS: My bonus LP is also clear.
PPS: The Father Yod this "label" is named after is a pretty interesting read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_Yod Should have stayed away from hang gliding though!

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
That's good about WWJ - I chose that version! In terms of any 'more material' these albums are officially out of print, hence the reissue idea. I don't think it's planned to add anything, just to make them available.jadams501 wrote:

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
'Bout time. The Spacemen 3 back catalogue is a bit tatty at the moment. The Fire reissue of SOC on 180 g vinyl was a tad crap IMHO. How can you get that much surface noise on a new pressing??? I'm waiting on the others but am expecting very little from them sonically.....(pardon me)runcible wrote:That's good about WWJ - I chose that version! Reissues of the Spectrum albums on vinyl would be great, as would be a good repressing of Recurring. You only have to look at eBay prices to understand how much demand there is for this stuff. A new album would also be nice.....

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
I think Sonic is slowly drip-feeding this stuff out, demo/reissues/vinyl etc.. to make a steady living. So a vinyl Recurring in about 25 years?
You have to wonder how much of a cut of all this Jason gets. Nothing, I'm guessing.

My other favorite is the demo from disc 2 of Forged Prescriptions... did you choose that as well?runcible wrote:That's good about WWJ - I chose that version!
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
Ha! No, not that one. I did help Pete with the How The Blues CD set though - my sole claim to any influence on Spacemen track selection...jadams501 wrote:My other favorite is the demo from disc 2 of Forged Prescriptions... did you choose that as well?runcible wrote:That's good about WWJ - I chose that version!
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
That's the original artwork right? I've got a signed copy from years and years back, bought thru the Outer Limits mag, and it's the same swirling b&w artwork. On the Father Yod label.
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
It looks just like the original but with an extra disc in the sleeve (but no track listing on the sleeve).
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
Mine arrived today and much to my surprise the bonus disc is white vinyl even though the picture on the ebay listing was clear. Anybody else got a white one

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
Mine is white but has pink spots...
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
Strange that mine only has pink spots on the inside of the gatefold sleeveruncible wrote:Mine is white but has pink spots...
C'mon Runcible serious for once mine is genuinely white.

Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
OK OK - mine is white too.
Re: New Taking Drugs TMMTTDT... vinyl reissue/release
mine is clear with a 1/2 inch wavy line of smokey gray/black going from the center to the edge. It looks like a clear splatter vinyl that didn't end up with much of the splatter
