SA90

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

SA90

Post by plastic37 »

Sometime ago i was extremely impressed with the scan of some tapes another user uploaded. At the time i commented how it would make a super cool A1 print and if i ever opened a trendy bar i would decorate it with similar tape spine art.
Well, my mate with an A1 printer in his home clearly remembered this so i am now looking at an A1 image of that scan.
I have attached a photo that includes a curtain rail for scale. I am delighted with it.

What a cool idea to scan those spines. Genius. Can't remember who did it but thanks. Hope you take its appropriation as the rich compliment it reflects.

That original scan has been my screen saver for ages.
I love the detail. The fact that they are SA90s, the Sonic Youth gig also on there.
I shall be looking through my tapes to see if i can find a similar perfect set ot 4 tapes. Of course, i would never have used pen on tape inlays so mine will never look as good as i think these do.

Right on, man! I Love it!

I have a ton of live Grateful Dead shows as well as live Pretty Things that are all on tape and the spines are...well, pieces of art work! If you don't mind, I love your idea so much I may make my own poster. I have a scanner and photoshop and a guy at work has a printer that is capable of printing poster size. 8)

I also think this piece

using mini discs is worth bringing to your attention.

Cool! I thought it said 'DSO' when I first looked at it ('Dark Star Orchestra').

It's a bit busy though. I like the cassette spines more. There is something simple yet really clean and nice about that image/idea.

Variation on a theme.......(I think this could work well using cassette inlay spines as cd covers)

yup, i can see that on a tshirt
Or perhaps as wall paper. I am sure that many people had sections of their walls that looked like that not so long ago.
