Does anyone else watch this show? I watched the mid-season finale last night and it really blew me away. The ending was powerful. Can't wait for it to resume in February.

i started season 1 but just couldn't get into it, but it's nowhere near as bad as true blood- mind numbing beyond all possibility!

Walking Dead isn't tongue-in-cheek the way True Blood is. IMO, those two shows have very different vibes.

First season was only 6 episodes and was the perfect mix of tension and gory violence... was great to watch and didn't hold back on the gore, even though it was a relatively mainstream programme. Season 2 has been, for me, very, very slow. Apart from the first two episodes, which were brilliantly tense and exciting, its been nothing but "character building" and a distinct lack of zombie bloodshed. I haven't seen this weeks mid-season finale, but it better be an improvement or i'll not bother going back to it when it returns in February...

I'm loving the Walking Dead Series. Just watched that mid season finale last night actually...nice twist at the end. Have you read the comics Paul and Laz? I like the way they've slightly altered the characters and plot lines without going too much off track. Heard that Frank Darabont quit after season 2 was finished though due to creative differences.

My friend who is mad about the comics is also saying that its bit slow with not enough zombie gore/bloodshed but I always saw it as more of a zombie apocolyptic soap-opera so think the character building side of things has to be a part of it.

I haven't read the comics.

The blood and gore was fine for the first season, but I don't think the creators/directors were right not to feature it as heavily in season two. The plot is more important to me and character development is key. The twist at the end of the midseason finale was superb.

Watched this finally last night. Could sense at the start that things were going to kick off one way or another (though, i thought it was more likely to be between Rick and Shane) and i was not disappointed. Really tense and frantic last 15mins... culminating in the twist which i really didn't see coming until the second before when it suddenly dawned on me. Bit of a heartbreaker of an ending too.

I've never read the comics, but my friend has said its remained pretty true to them also, so got to give them credit for that.

As i said to him, i spent almost 7 years watching characters develop with Lost... i can't do it all over again!

Laz/Paul.... You have to read the comics. As good as the TV series has been, the comics are vastly superior. I'm lucky in that my best friend has been buying them since they first come out (I think its been 5 or 6 years so far), but our local library has had the graphic novel compilations too. I'm not a comic book geek but the Walking Dead series has been pretty different to everything else out there.

If the TV series is going to continue with the main basis of the story from the comics then there are going to be some awesome plot lines coming up  8)

<<<<POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT>>>

Well the finale was a cracker!!! From the frantic start and all its madness to Rick's complete (and understandable) meltdown at the end... absolutely brilliant end to the series... and plenty more to come if what we saw in the last episode is anything to go by! The clouds of ANARCHY are gathering...

p.s. Rick's wife is a fucking bitch!!!! She's been doing my head in for weeks and her reaction in that episode said it all. He should have abandoned her like Hershel said...

Yes. This has been irritating me, recently, too. Seems like the main reason Shane went off the deep end was the "deep talk" that she instigated with him. The fucked up thing about that is that not long before, she told Rick that Shane was dangerous. Seems like she was playing both sides and intentionally drove them into conflict.

Yeah... she enjoyed the fact that she had two love interests... she played them both too. Unforgivable. Her lack on concern for Rick when he explained that Shane had deliberately lured him out to the middle of nowhere to kill him, knowing full well his state of mind makes me think she was playing them off against each other. Her wee chat with Shane just before he lured Rick out was obviously deliberate to push Shane over the edge...

Can't wait to see her get pulled apart, limb from limb by blood thirsty Zombies...

Wathched the last 3 episodes of season 2 last night... brilliant. Managed to avoid this thread for a while to avoid any spoilers, even though I've been reading the comics for years. And yeah, my 2 mates and I who have been following this, agree that Rick's wife is a total pain in the arse! We also found Dale to be a moany old git so were quite happy to see his stomach get ripped open. Great finale to a brilliant dramatisation of a wonderful comic book series. Already excited for season 3 and know its just going to get even more brutal.

Does anyone else into The Walking Dead TV series also read the monthly comics? If so, then this other zombie apocolyptic nightmare based comic may be of interest:-

It's for over 18's only and is very, very gory and brutal. There is an actual online story on the website too, just click on the "web comic" link on the header options.

After all the crap our "heroes" have had to deal with, and the behaviour of the other prisoners, would you have taken the risk of keeping them with you? I don't think i would have took that chance...

Queued up for tonights viewing. Just caught up with last weeks episode last night and i could sense it being a precursor to something bad happening (relatively tame affair... new character introduction, etc)

I'm trying to give up smoking just now and i'm already as tense as fuck at the best of times... whats that? More tension? Yeah fire that on... might as well fuck myself up going the other way!

I do think this season is quite good, but it seems to me that the Governor should be a scarier figure. That character isn't doing much for me. I also don't think the relationship between him and Andrea is very believable.

You mean the episode where Andrea and the scientist conduct research on the old man after he dies and comes back? I watched that one last night. Still not really thrilled with the Governor, but I bet he'll get a lot more intense as the season progresses. I guess the next episode is the mid-season finale.

yea elvis guv'nor needs to take it up a notch or else get killed off asap.

andrea needs to die also. she always puts cock ahead of loyalty.

glenn needs to die also. just because really. tho the original group is near all dead by now so i don't think it'll happen. that was some p cool shit he pulled w/the walker when strapped to the chair tho.

the episode rick spent talking on the phone to ghosts was p lame. last weeks was slow bar the glenn stuff. hopefully they pull out all the stops for the mid-season break. this season was going p great but it's all gone a bit Jericho atm..

Any thoughts on the mid-season finale? It definitely wasn't the best episode of the season so far, but I like the direction that the story is heading. I still find the relationship between the Governor and Andrea completely unbelievable, but it's obviously going to unravel quickly. The introduction of a new gang of characters was unexpected. I figured there'd be a bigger cliffhanger of an ending.

i thought there was some good stuff, in particular: tyreese/cutty from the wire; rick's son being a killing machine; the entire michonne vs guv'nor fight.

yea there wasn't much of a cliffhanger. daryl's either dead or else andrea intervenes. i like daryl, but hopefully he dies!

the preview for the 2nd half of the season crapped something like spoilers, but i'll prob forget that all by the time feb rolls round. seems like ages atm tho.

Watched the mid-season finale last night... great episode, but i suppose i was kinda hoping for a bigger cliffhanger too, although it still leaves it hanging (although the spoilers for the following episodes does seem to be a really stupid thing to do after a mid-season finale...).

Though the governer fight was brilliant especially when the one thing he pleaded for fell on deaf ears... superbly dealt with! (i hate his character... an evil scumbag! lol). Nice use of zombie bones by Glen as weapons too. I can see the remainder of this season being really rather fast paced! Roll on February!

I'm having Sky installed next week mainly for SkySports (as I can't envisage going to the pub as much to watch footy since the birth of my son) but also to get to see Walking Dead in glorious HD on Fox (I previously had to go round a friends to watch it after he downloaded the episodes off file-sharing websites). Do you know if I'll be able to see this first episode on some kind of catch up feature on Sky or if its repeated at all?

I'm sure Fox show a repeat of that week's episode at some point during the week its premiered, so it might be back on. Outwith that week, i think you might struggle as i don't think Fox have a catch-up feature. If in doubt, give me a nudge and i'll pass that first episode on.

I watched the first episode of the second half of the season a few nights ago. I didn't really like the way they handled the Darryl vs. Merle fight club scene. It just wasn't very exciting. For me, it was a bit of a disappointment coming off of the cliffhanger at the end of the first half of the season. I still don't like the Governer, who just is not menacing to me at all, and really should be. Not sure if it's the actor or the character or a combination of the two. The ending to this episode was pretty awesome, though. I was not expecting that. So, I'm sticking with the show, as I'm still intrigued by it and want to see what's going to happen.

Re: The Walking Dead

well the more i thought about the more i morphed into comic book guy, willing to proclaim it 'worst episode ever'.
i didn't think really any plot was advanced - we were left in the exact same scenario as the prev week. ok the only advancement was tyreese joining forces w/the guv'nor. other than that it was the same as last weeks - andrea inbetween the prison & town, daryl & merle wasn't advanced, rick's state of mind was touched upon in the great opening scene then either he was cured or it was forgotten about in favour of andrea's carry-on but there was no closure on what that meant. i think that's p small progression tbh. i'm still a little pissed off they wasted my time tbh!
i dunno what they're waiting on really. it's not like a lot of these characters are so likable they'll be missed when they're gone & it's not like this stand-off has anything to say or is of any real interest in the over-arching scheme of zombie-infest. it just feels like the proverbial treading water. it's just there's so much more they could be doing while not doing anything rather than focusing on andrea's divided loyalties - we could get to know michonne or tyreese more for one thing.

I actually thought last weeks was better than the previous two... this is really building to a rather superb climax!

Got a feeling the climax is going to be immense a little dip in the middle of the 2nd half of the third series but so back on track now. Anybody care to predict which of the main characters are going to die a horrible death, surely all of them bar Rick could go :?:

think herschel is defo gonna die & maybe his younger daughter or maggie.

there's not too many of the main group left so don't expect them to cull it too much. yer woman w/the short hair could go, she's nobody really except daryl.
i expect most deaths will come from woodbury & tyreese's crew.

i hope they all get bitten rather than humans fighting/killing each other. it's enough of that already. i want more zombie stuff!

What about Andrea? I expect her to bite the dust trying to kill the Governor ... or maybe they'll kill each other.
