Spiritualized blog on Dock Ellis Records

Post by spzretent »

I wrote this blog yesterday. The people on this forum are a lot of why it was written.
It was written from the heart and more to do with the affect music can have on peoples lives and in no way meant to be a Spiritualized retrospective.
It is my story.

Amazing stuff. Thanks for sharing this.

For me, a friend came back from Uni and, as had become a habit, brought a load of vinyl round to play me. I remember Curve and an MBV remix. And then Shine a Light. Wow. A little later we got tickets for the Hackney Empire gig supporting LGM and that was it, I was in love. Never looked back.

Rich, I feel exactly the same. This place feels like home. I just wish there is a way we could all meet face to face. Any time I have the opportunity to meet up with a forum member I will. Even if it is one person at a time.
This is an amazing corner of the internet all brought together by music.
Powerful.

Meeting members of this board would be an amazing Party; I have enjoyed sharing what little I know about music, and music that is part of my collection; my "Arkiv". The, for me, strangeness of virtual conversation, (rather new in the beginning to me than I believe most on the SITE), has grown into multiple friendships and things that I never thought would happen, and has; by far, the majority of it all, been very positive.

Our spzretent has been very helpful and generous with his time and patience; I have enjoyed this SITE for years, and whether it is the latest release, or the latest "find" of some sort, or sharing of thoughts and happenings, it is a great SITE. I have visited a variety of others, but perhaps it is the music which in ways binds us that makes Spiritualized, as this SITE, something incredibly special and very nice in some small way, to be a part of and to enjoy.

Yeah nice piece, totally concur, met some fine people on here who I now class as friends and the collective musical knowledge on here is astounding.
Whose who in the photo on your piece ? I know Runcible but don't know the others.

Also we had big group photo taken at the (now legendary, dare I say it) Holmfirth gig, naturally assumed it would be posted on here, whatever happened to that ?

Sounds like another fairly healthy forum catch up at the forthcoming Heads gig in London :)

Did I take the pic at Holmfirth? That night rather blurred by the end!

That Heads show should allow a load of us to clink a pint or two... Just working out my trains!

Other than Mr Runcible there is BzaInSpace, BVCP206 & Myself. Consider it like a puzzle.
Anyone care to guess who is who?

So that's what BVCP206 looks like. Not how i pictured him. I know the answer but will keep it to myself unless there is a prize on offer!

'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

very nice blog post..
I've also met some fine folks via this message board, and I'm not the type of person who usually meets randoms from the internet! the knowledge on tap is second to none. it's only nominally the 'Spiritualized forum' really and more a general reserve of musical knowledge.

this place has had very few arguments or bullying incidents.
it still begs the question why.. maybe bands get the fans they deserve?
