A few more to go this year but 2016 is starting to make itself known:

Night Beats (Jan) and Holy Wave (March), both making their Irish debut.
Also nabbed early birds for Body & Soul and Electric Picnic.

To add to the debut Irish apperances of Night Beats (Jan) and Holy Wave (March) we are also getting Hookworms in April making their first trip to these shores :D

Plus Lee 'Scratch' Perry playing the Super Ape album in full (March).

would like to see any of those acts but they seem to be giving the Midlands a swerve this time around!

my calendar is also starting to fill up next year now.
Ryley Walker & Danny Thompson in February

April is filling up too with Explosions In The Sky, Richmond Fontaine and maybe even a little band called The Heads..

godspeed you! black emperor- this is in a church on the far southside. I've somehow never been to a show in a church, which is something I've always wanted to do.
beach house- this is sold out and I have to figure out a way to get a ticket for it in the next few months. I'm really hoping I don't have to resort to one of those awful ticket brokering websites.

I'm also going to Germany in March, so I'm hoping there will be something I want to see in Berlin or Cologne while I'm there.

Let me know how this goes. Got tix for one of two consecutive nights here in Seattle next month - all ages so the kids can go (was their idea).

Wrapping the gig going yr up this weekend with Blanck Mass this Fri, produced one of the yr stand out albums IMO with their/his top quality dystopian electronica , looking forward to this , then Saturday Twilight Sad @ Barrowland`s , my 14yr daughter expressed her approval for Twilight Sad back at the start of the yr and will be coming with me and my usual side kick to a sold out `Barras` Saturday night show, can` t wait to see what she thinks of it tbh, shes only been to a couple of larger, pop type things, this will be different , buzzin` for this weekend actually :)

My gig going year is slowly coming to a halt after seeing the incredible Thee Oh Sees in London last week (an hour of sweat drenched mayhem, electrified and deranged). My local record shop, South Records in Southend On Sea, has an in-store gig by acid-folky Howard Eynon, which I'll probably go along to. Does the Nutcracker ballet count as a gig? Not really eh but that's my pre-Xmas family treat.

Just booked tickets for Father John Misty at the Roundhouse next May which I'm excited about.

Also Daughter at the Forum in London in January. My good lady's choice for a change.

Night Beats, Fat White Family, both possibilities. Primal Scream was in the bag until I clocked the price and decided it wasn't worth it.

Happy Festive gig going everyone, hope you all enjoy some great shows!

I might be going to the Manchester Explosions show too. for now I've chosen just the Bristol date as it's on a Saturday and the venue looks really nice. I'm such a big fan however I can see myself adding Manchester to the diary also..

just booked tickets for Golden Void in Birmingham for January.

psych of the San Fran variety, the band feature Isaiah from Earthless as well as members of Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound. that's enough to get me interested. they sound pretty good:

New and revised for 2016:

Night Beats (Jan), Fat White Family, Ozric Tentacles (Feb), Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Holy Wave, Protomartyr (March),
Meatbodies, Hookworms (April), Pixies (June).

Pixies could be our first rock'n'roll family outing  as the girlfriend picked up tickets for the two of us and her daughter. Nothing against Pixies, saw them twice first time around and three times since the reunion but felt like I was done after the 'Doolittle' tour. Passed up any opportunities to see them since then. Might just treat it as a night out on a summer's evening.

Looks like The Cosmic Dead are playing Reverberation (Dublin's Psych Fest) in April so that will be enough to get me going one of the nights at least.

Plus Body & Soul and Electric Picnic festies.
Scarily, the other half bought an early bird B&S ticket as a birthday present for 'The Teenager', who will be 17 by the time it comes around.
I have opposed this decision on many grounds, mainly I don't want us to bump into her while we're off our heads  plus I think she should pay for the ticket herself by getting a part time job. Can't recall my parents ever shelling out cash for me to go to gigs or festivals
Parenting eh?

Tickets bought for Micheal Head & The Red Elastic Band as well, been looking forward to him coming north for quite a long time, was beginning to think it would never happen, then as if by bloody magic!! Fancied Night Beats this weekend as well but `on call` this weekend, oh well,

I've been keeping my eye out for any Michael Head dates in the Midlands too, but I don't think it's gonna happen. probably not enough of an audience if we're honest.
does he play Shack songs in the set? can't find any setlists online

Be a mixture of everything I believe, I think he`s only released around half a dozen songs so far as The Red Elastic Band,

Just checked tour dates for the CRB as I wouldn't mind seeing them too. Can't believe they're only doing one UK date...thats ridiculous. London on a Monday night is a total pain in the arse for me :(

Yep... although i'm not bloody surprised... what would be even more annoying would be if he was passing through to go do an extensive european tour... one UK date on that would almost be a snub! Disappointed too.

Lets do this! Brighton band Enos are supporting as well. Will try and get the Friday afternoon off work so can come and meet up early (ish). Both Enos and myself asked Dave/Sula Bassana if he could do a Brighton date but he said the London promoter wouldn't allow it :(

some more I'm considering

Television in either Manchester or Bristol
John Cooper Clarke at Birmingham Town Hall
Diiv in Birmingham
Karma to Burn in Birmingham (but it's on a Sunday so no late trains, so not sure if I can be arsed)

also trying to lineup some gigs for when I'm over in New York in April. got Acid Mothers Temple or Autolux as possibles. Dave Gilmour is playing but unfortunately on the day we fly back.
if anybody knows any cool venues in the big apple would love some advice. where's the free jazz going down?

Awesome shinesalight, I will be in the area from just after lunch so I suggest we could have the whole world put to rights by the time the band come on stage :) Looking forward to it. Been playing them a lot recently. Plus off to Berlin in a few weeks as late ish 40th birthday pass out/treat for some Bunedsliga action, so hoping to grab a few of their releases and associated acts at the plethora of record stores there. If anyone has any inside info on decent stores in that there Berlin, then give me a shout

PSB - Leeds Refectory
Damien Jurado - Brudenell Social Club
Steve Mason - Belgravia Music Hall, Leeds (really looking forward to this, venue/complex looks amazing only holds about 200)
The Wave Pictures - Unity Works Wakefield.

Toying with PIL at Warehouse 23 in Wakefield but not took the plunge on this one yet although it certainly shows how far Wakefield has come in terms of live music that it can attract bands of this ilk :D

Not a bad start to year :D

Rangda are playing a residency at Cafe Oto in London, which each band member's respective solo project as support each night. thanks to fellow forumite ro for spotting that one! :) I don't think my wallet can stretch to all 3 nights so might have to go for the Six Organs night..

also got Chameleons Vox lined up for Birmingham. last time I said I wasn't sure if I would see them again, but when they are playing on your doorstep again.. you do wonder if sometimes you are seeing bands out of habit sometimes!

decided I am gonna have to give The Heads a miss unfortunately.. just got too much going on in April as it is.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard tonight at the Electric Ballroom in Camden. Saw these crazy cats last summer and it was an amazing gig, loads of love between the crowd and band, mayhem from the get go. Hoping for more of the same at this sold out gig tonight.

Looming on the horizon......Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood at the Union Chapel, Father John Misty at the Roundhouse, both in May.

Field Day Festival - Sunday 12th June (Goat, PJ Harvey, Air, Moon Duo, BJM, Fat White Family, Beach House etc etc) - never been to this East London festival, heard good/bad things but it has a great line up this year so taking the plunge!

Destruction Unit - Moth Club, London - 28th June - hosted by Bad Vibrations in a groovy looking club in deepest Hackney. Sacrifice thy ears, again.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Electric Brixton - 8th Sept - tickets on sale 9am tomorrow morning, a must see live experience in my oh so humble opinion

Good year for gigs so far, what with Mark Lanegan, Duke Garwood and Father John Misty all coming up as well.

And they just keep on coming..latest additions...

King Khan & The BBQ Show (April), The Telescopes (May), Mudhoney w/Bob Log III, Daddy Long Legs, Kid Congo Powers & The Pink Monkey Birds (all in June), Leftfield, Belly (Both July).

Last time I saw Mudhoney I swore I was done but its been a few years, they've got Bob Log supporting, who i've passed on the last couple of times he's played, and it's all taking place in the cosy confines of Whelans. Can't say no really...

Also very much looking forward to Belly, I had no idea they were back together! Saw them first time round but only on big outdoor stages at festivals so it'll be nice to catch them in a small indoor venue.

Add in Holy Wave, Protomartyr, Meatbodies, The Heads, Mission Of Burma, Mark Lanegan, The Gories, Hookworms, Dandy Warhols plus a few festivals and it's all systems go.

Floating Points in Brighton
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard in Brighton
James Holden, Sonic Boom etc. at LSO St Luke's

Already in the bag, plus Death in Vegas yet to announce dates. Swans may also be happening if I can persuade a mate to go.

Just scratching the surface of what I'd like to be going to, however...

Television.

Explosions In the Sky added some more tour dates and they are doing Birmingham in October. so looks like I will be seeing them twice this year. definitely not complaining.

Mogwai at Coventy Cathedral doing Atomic (quite an apt setting?)

possibly Brian Jones Massacre in Oxford, I've still somehow never seen them despite many chances.

was going to try and make it to a Teenage Fanclub show too, but they all sold out really quickly!

also considering Stars of The Lid who have announced a UK tour. I will have to go a bit further afield though.

2016 is looking pretty good I have to say.

Ride have just announced 2 nights at the Concorde 2 in Brighton in September. I'm hoping the Mrs can secure 2 tickets when they go on sale on Friday :D 8) Don't think I've ever seen them in a venue that small.
