Funny that- I don't know what happened to Richard Ashcroft after Urban Hymns.

Heh..
Look to the top of the page and it says Spiritualized Migration In Progress. Is this a secret nod to the imminent dropping of a new album? Or perhaps the new band name a la Spiritualized Electric Mainline during the Pure Phase era?
Curiouser and curiouser

Hopefully, there will be a few interviews song with Primavera on the horizon. Maybe we'll get a little info as to what's going on.

Yes looking forward to the 30th hoping Jason sits down for a few interviews. You never know he may play the entire new album live at the show like he did with the last album.

I was thinking we could be in the unlikely scenario that My Bloody Valentine will have released two albums since the last Spiritualized album. Not something I would have put money on...

That acoustic Perfect Miracle is ... err ... perfect. And that's the version before he changed the last verse to drop to a more dramatic 7th interval on the final "changed my address" vox!

Did I miss that YouTube video when it originally appeared? It's like 5 years old, and I'd love to hear the rest.

Kinda thinking about how much I'd love Acoustic Mainlines V2 right now...

Thanks for the interesting link. I didn't realise the Pet Shop Boys were still going!

I'll always remember the musical Pet Shop Boy getting quoted in NME in the late '80s. He said he didn't trust MIDI and didn't think it accurately sync'd precisely with his perfect timing requirements.

I'd be fascinated to see how one man could generate all the music for a Pet Shop Boys gig these days, without using MIDI in their rig? Perhaps it was an ill-judged off-the-cuff remark, said in haste?

Meh...I'm slightly more concerned that they got the better recent Farrow album artwork...

Love the plain orange aesthetic though - so bright, yet so suitably Spaceman-esque anonymous. I hope it doesn't get filled with HUGE ugly text!

That is really good news for Spiritualized. Trey Many was in an early incarnation of His Name Is Alive and is a massive Spiritualized fan. He used to shop in my record shop. Good to see someone nice doing so well in the music business.

Wouldn't it be great if the new record suddenly fell from the sky on the 21st anniversary of LAG...?

Especially as it was due a year ago on the same date.

Maybe a morse code title each day until the 16th? Here's hoping so. The wait between prescriptions has never been so lengthy, and as much required if not more so than ever, for me at least.

Glad those songs appear to have made it. Hope some of the other heavier tracks from the US band tour make it too. And 'Here It Comes'.

Yep. There's a recording of it somewhere but I can't find it at the moment.

I'm hoping A Song and D song make the cut.

I'm Your Man isn't a Leonard Cohen or Richard Hell cover unfortunately :)

As someone who has petitioned many a band/label for orange, red or yellow t-shirts over the years i am delighted with this artistic direction :D
Hoping for an orange shirt with white print tee on inevitable tour. Would like a predominantly orange with white lettering gatefold accompanied by orange and white swirl vinyl for next album, but would settle for one solid orange one solid white record for new LP 8)

“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness

'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

I expect there'll be a morse code tweet each day revealing the whole tracklisting one by one, maybe followed by the actual release details at the end, with a single and pre-orders available.

I think it would be awesome if the album dropped without any teaser tracks at all. Sometimes it's a drag when you listen to two or three songs over and over for months leading up to an album. You wind up having fully absorbed them already, leaving only a portion of the album that feels new.

I think Bza may be right with the idea of an imminent release. I it would something of a let down to have 12 days of song title tweets and then the release doesn't appear until the autumn. If the aim is to build up interest then you'd think it would need to come out soon to capitalise on that.

I thought an imminent release was a given, no discussion whatsoever. Although my last thought going to bed last night was that the final code will say "Released March 7 2019"

Sunray: I backtracked and indicated that I think the album should drop without any teaser singles. I do think that doing 10+ days of the morse code thing is a bit much, but if it the album drops the day after the last song title is announced, then it will be worthwhile. Clewsr nailed it when he said, "it would something of a let down to have 12 days of song title tweets and then the release doesn't appear until the autumn."

There's no way that the album won't be dropping in the next few months as this kind of campaign costs money to put together and the postings are all slick and at the same time - This isn't J on his phone. I imagine once the album tracks have all been teased it will be a single and album asap. Counting up on the calendar hopefully the single on 15th June if we have 11-12 tracks and the cover unleashed etc.

Plus now a new agent is in place who knows his stuff its going to be up and running with the tour too.

I suspect that whilst it won't be J on his phone, he may well have had some big help from his partner, Juliette Larthe. This is, I think, the kind of creative media she and her company specialise in.

I imagine once the album tracks have all been teased it will be a single and album asap. Counting up on the calendar hopefully the single on 15th June if we have 11-12 tracks and the cover unleashed etc.

Plus now a new agent is in place who knows his stuff its going to be up and running with the tour too.

Onwards and upwards people x
I suspect that whilst it won't be J on his phone, he may well have had some big help from his partner, Juliette Larthe. This is, I think, the kind of creative media she and her company specialise in.
I’m fairly sure they spilt up back in 2014.

I'm sure the album will come out with little or no promotion.

Promoting costs money, Spiritualized just aren’t a big money making band.

As always I’m hoping the new album is amazing, but chances are I’ll like a few tunes and overall it will be a bit boring. I dislike writing that, but based on everything since LICD that is what I expect.

I actually wonder if the reason for such long waits between albums is just the spaceman hoping we forget his tunes and won’t recognize his rewrites. Unless he calls a tune Walking with Jesus part 7, then I’ll laugh...

My favorite band, and not trying to be harsh, just honest. I sincerely hope I’m dead wrong and he puts out some fresh tracks. Loud ones too. Fingers crossed, but I did listen to the videos posted above and those songs were spz by the numbers.

I have a feeling the mellow tracks will be divisive again. I really like "A Perfect MIracle" and "Let's Dance," based on the live versions.

Didn't know that. She's certainly been sharing the morse code stuff on Twitter though.

I think it depends on the production, plus how much variation is on the album. Whilst rough and ready, I thought Perfect Miracle, Here Comes The Road and Let's Dance sounded nice enough - with potential to scrub up well in the studio.

I was much less convinced by songs like The Morning After, which was just a jangly chord plus harp and generic walking bass line, all played with as much finesse as a teenage band practice.

I really liked some of the mellow tracks on A&E, where it seemed like the rockier attempts veered more towards going through the Spiritualized motions there.

On the last album there were some lovely mellow compositions. Unfortunately there also was that real clanger Won't Get To Heaven, with such dreary, trite and unimaginative lyrics bolted on to an offensively generic tune!

However considering that previously we've seen songs played live prior to release, which then evolved quite dramatically, I'm cautiously optimistic.

A great example was Come Together, which began as a rather dirge like one note affair, which really didn't go anywhere until he introduced that progression up to a minor 3rd. Even then, if you listen to successive recordings it's clear that simple 3 note scale evolves both in terms of the instruments playing it (and those not, hence introducing harmonic intervals) and very importantly for Come Together - the dynamics of the track.

It does seem weird that all the morse code bleeps so far are familiar names, unless that really is the running order. I'd kinda hoped for another epic opener like Hey Jane!
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

Are you thinking of "So Long You Pretty Thing"?
