Apparently, he left before the end because people kept recognising him. As someone said on another forum, perhaps it was the recognisable-at-20-meters haircut and the Spectrum jacket...good dope/good fun wrote:Pretty cool he checked out J. Spaceman & Company.
I wonder the conversation that took place after........

Man... It's been 8 years...
W: What are we supposed to do with that?
M: Eat it.
W: Eat it? Fucker’s alive.
M: Yeah, you’ve got to kill it.
W: Me? I’m the firelighter and fuel collector.

Re: Kember Update
I don't see any update on his site, was it removed?
Re: Kember Update
that's what i thought, there's nothing there.
What's the update, other than shows in foreign lands that I already knew about?

Re: Kember Update/who put the bump
awwww!cmon......
there are some bands that you only need 1 or 2 of their records & some bands where u need all of their records ,......... I'm trying to remain in the latter category . It'll all make sense in good time . I do appreciate the kind thoughts though .
sometimes things are just how they are.... It's important to me to do what some apparently consider to be extracurricular activity . I would'nt expect everyone to like everything I work on except myself ..but I do . a lot .
I am getting more juiced for doing something though.
thanks for keeping the anniversarys . I should make it b4 the next one......

Re: Kember Update
These issues were neatly covered in Pete's Optical Sounds interview but it's nice to see them here. PK is highly sought after in the studio and that puts his own material on the back burner - I got the impression that slightly frustrates him, but I know he's had a lot of fun working with the people he has and lots of the music is excellent so I'm happy to leave the guy to it. A happy PK is one that produces quality work, either on his own or with others.

Re: Kember Update
but we want his lol
frustrating when you hear people like randall talking about a number of tracks that were started
i like the dean and britta songs a lot and cheval sombre
what is happening with the reissues pete?
I need a new copy of the spectrum lp for sure - very, very underated

Re: Kember Update
Hi Pete, thanks for checking in. I'm excited about the new record and am looking forward to amply rewarding your creativity -- so how about a double album? Soon?
Incidentally, I was never really a fan of Forever Alien but recently, while listening to every version of Repeater/How Does It Feel in chronological order, I was really struck by how incredible The Stars Are So Far is. Highs, Lows & Heavenly Blows is still my favorite but kudos to you for a brave artistic decision.

Well remembered!
I'd love another Spectrum album, perhaps more than any other, but it's enough for me for the time being to see Pete looking well and happy. Portugal seems to suit him!

Re: Kember Update
I visited the town where Pete lives, Sintra, a few years ago when I was on holiday in Lisbon. I'd be happy too if I lived there, it is beautiful. Althought tbf I'm pretty goddamn happy where I am.

Re: Kember Update
I used to be hopeful, but I'm really starting to think a new Spectrum album will never see the light of day now.
the production work must keep Pete busy and also must be what is paying the bills. I'm sure he's still full of creativity but it must be hard to find the time to really nail down a whole new Spectrum record.

Re: Kember Update
Will try and update from the Eindhoven gig on any new material next week!
Re: Kember Update
I must admit when Indian Giver and War Sucks were released (blimey, can't believe that's nearly 10 years ago now), I thought that a proper new Spectrum album would follow but, alas, it was not to be! I vae enjoyed the Cheval Sombre records - Sonic seems to be involved alot with these - and very much forward looking to the next long player next year. I would still love a bona fida Spectrum release though!
Re: Kember Update
weren't the "how the blues" cdrs supposed to fund that record?
