i just keep going back to this. Every single second of this track is perfection to me, from the vocals diving right in at the get-go to the quiet, “no, no, no, no“ after the noise freakout at the end. And every single instrument sounding just as it should in between.

Also, I don’t really have a good ear but I think the sound is a bit better on this upload

Really excellent double LP from Kandodo with Robert Hampson from Loop. First LP is the rehearsal, second LP is the gig. I wish they would hurry up and release the Kandodo 5 show from the LPF a few years ago. That was one of the best live shows I've been to.

Was that the one where the Carlton Melton boys joined them?

I'm pretty sure that it was all four of The Heads and Rich from Carlton Melton who played that set.

You are correct Olan. It was definitely recorded, i know that much. Video surfaced on youtube soon after. Don't know if it's still there but i grabbed it just in case it disappeared. I seem to recall we were all blown away by that Kandodo 5 set. Only topped that weekend imo by The Heads a few hours later.
The Kandodo 4 lp is indeed excellent too Olan. Being spinning it over the weekend. Definitely sorts the wheat from the chaff, men from boys etc. :)

The Heads set from the 2015 PZYK Fest is still up there but the Kandodo set has dissappeared as far as I can tell. Hopefully, this means it is being prepared for eventual release. I did find video from the Kandodo set with Robert Hampson from Roadburn in 2015.

The Johnny Halifax Invocation- Acid Bluus Raags Vol.1 https://jonnyhalifaxinvocation.bandcamp ... r-gs-vol-1

I've been waiting for this one to appear and it doesn't disappoint. Title says it all really. Wonderfully dirty drone/blues/Indian raga with some skronking sax. At times it sounds like The Individual or live Spiritualized '93-95 era noodlings.

Should add that the Heavy Meditations ep is also worth checking out and is name your price.

Its good isn't it. They messaged me about putting this out on vinyl a while ago but I just had too much on the go at the time. Glad to see they got God Unknown to release it though.

Thumper- Delusions Of Grandeur: One of my favourite Irish acts deliver their debut album and i'm happy to report it's a good 'un. Catchy hooks and melodies aplenty amid plenty of guitar noise. Delighted that 25 made the cut as it lodged in my head for weeks the first time i heard it but there was no recording of it anywhere until they did a radio session a few months later. An all round solid album but still best seen live: https://thumpermusic.bandcamp.com/album ... -n-d-e-u-r

Gnod- Hexen Valley: This is very good. Similar but more satisfying than La Mort Du Sens from a few months back. Thick, heavy, propulsive bass coupled with some righteous noise throughout. The reviews probably say something like "an unrelenting Panzer Division crushing all in its path whilst firing shells of heavy sound that send out shards and slabs of sonic shrapnel eviscerating any poor creature within hearing distance". Final track 'Waves Of Fear' sounds like a drinking song or something, it has a very familiar feel about it. The lyrics seem to be about a panic attack or the end of a binge, perhaps both. It's a very un-Gnod-like tune yet definitely Gnod. As usual i imagine this lp will absolutely slay live. https://gnod.bandcamp.com/album/hexen-valley

The John Denver Airport Conspiracy- Something's Gotta Give!: A sunny 60s/BJM kinda album. Perfect for hot summer days with company and refreshments. Name your price at https://thejohndenverairportconspiracy.bandcamp.com/

Ha! Probably explains why it sounded familiar, though i can't say i remember the Reed version. Must have heard it somewhere though.
I can't recall Gnod doing any covers before but it's quite possible. I'm sure i read years ago they used to be a Spacemen 3 tribute band called Sound Of Confusion. Could be bullshit of course!

I finally got around to playing this the other night late on and it’s pretty amazing. The second track - near the end has that feel for sure.

Otherwise I throughly enjoyed that celestial drone thing - John Fahey and bits of the Performance OST sprung to mind also.

The last 2/3 weeks its been Earthless - Night Of One Hundred Demons fantastic stuff, 3 tracks, really two, stretching out and hammering blues, psyche and stoner riffs like nobody else really, looking forward to seeing them in a week or two. Loop - Sonancy after all this time still sounding like the essence of Loop but changed up, whole album is precise and clipped and could fit comfortably inside the first track on the Earthless album with time to spare. REM - New Adventures In Hifi 25th Anniversary, I`d basically signed off REM probably 6/8 yrs before this came out so totally missed it, my loss, its bloody fantastic and has me well under its spell and now going backwards to their 80`s output again

Lotta love here for Earthless but, unfortunately, its on a increasingly long "To Buy" list for me Gary, but i hope to get hold of it. Such a great band. I'm unable to make the Earthless gig on Tuesday as the wife is taking me out for a birthday dinner. Gutted too as, live, they are next fuckin' level! :(

Perfect- 7.0: https://perhaps.bandcamp.com/album/70

Absolutely no idea how this passed me by but glad i found it now. Full-on psych with a groove you can actually have a proper dance to. This is the kind of stuff i would absolutely LOVE to hear at a festival. Just to pique your interest further, Isaiah Mitchell AND Kawabata Makoto play on it  8)

I haven't checked out the rest of their material yet but it all seems to be name your price.

Bottle and a half of my fav red wine went down way too easily last night, so I'm fighting off the hangover with this album just now. Really great album that flits between The Heads, Sonic Youth and some heavy Earth-like riffage.

Blind Owl Wilson- S/T: Great comp of Canned Heat guitarist/singer's tunes. Poor Moon has long been a favourite of mine. Nebulosity was surely an influence on Sonic. Childhood's End could be from a modern psych act. Dig in: https://mississippirecords.bandcamp.com ... owl-wilson

The Smile on nice yellow vinyl that sounded great (take note). I was wondering when this all started why this wasn't just a Radiohead release (Tom aside). I can see why now. Lovely sounding, great range of songs, a bit of everything done well. First listen already suggests songs that will easily compliment the best of Radiohead. Nice.

We want to clock out, but we want to rock. We want to rule the streets, but we want to watch it over the telly... 1+1 (one for one) = 4 discs of marvelous meltdown called Seefeel. https://www.discogs.com/master/2126677- ... Flex-94-96 Needs no courage to call them up. Lets find out if the observatory still has the heating off and the extra coldness exhales only from my own skull. Or something...

New ones on Rocket from OCH, The Utopia Strong and Rubber Oh.
I'd have to place OCH 'Po Om Po' as the best of the three, lovely guitar/synth drones with nice percussion. Reviews suggested it might be a difficult listen but i found it to be quite the opposite. However i did struggle with the Utopia Strong 'International Treasure' lp. Maybe i just wasn't in the mood but apart from the last track, which recalled Planet Dog era and Orbital, i found it to be pretty boring ambient.
Rubber Oh's 'Strange Craft' was better than i expected. It's from one of Pigsx7 guitarists but is nothing like them. More synths in this, it doesn't always work but i will be returning to it. https://rocketrecordings.bandcamp.com/music

Ecstatic Vision- Elusive Mojo: More early Hawkwind/Monster Magnet style workouts. Loses marks for the horrible drum sound.

Tess Parks- And Those Who Were Seen Dancing: Usual Tess stuff (BJM/Mazzy Star) but with a bit of extra keyboards and a baggy shuffle. Another one that i'm not mad about the drum sound.

Still haven't got bored of this year's 40 Watt Sun LP - came out in January but the vinyl only arrived last week due to the well-known problems at pressing plants currently.

Been a fan of Patrick Walker since his doom metal days, but this is more like folky slowcore, singer-songwriter stuff, influenced by the likes of Codeine, Jason Molina, Damien Jurado, Lambchop etc. I think it's his best work and my album of the year so far. Think this is my favourite track from it, but it's not easy to pick just one.

New Dungen album coming in October and the song they have released is sounding great. Love the effect on the guitar and the drums are nice and crunchy.
This band rarely put a foot wrong in my book.

Hi everyone I’ve been looking here for a few years now for new bands and I’m happy to save I’m found loads of new tunes. Most recently Free/Slope. So thanks for that.

Time for the senseless self promotion: I’ve got a solo instrumental guitar project that I think people here might enjoy. It’s a bit like causa sui, papir, and Neu! I suppose. Vinyl co-release with 4 labels. It’s on Spotify and all the usual places too.

I’m an enormous spiritualized fan and love trying to add lots of layers with most things I do but it’s not particularly spz-like. I hope people enjoy it, cheers Rob

I'm pushing Twen wherever i can, new stuffs a bit more poppy but the first album 'Awestruck' is like a cross between the first Stone Roses LP and the Cocteau Twins

Minami Deutsch- Fortune Goodies: New album that's whetted the appetite for the upcoming gig in a few weeks. Very Can-like in places (as you'd expect), some mellower moments in the middle before picking up the pace again. I wished they utilised the fuzzed-out Karoli-esque guitars more, but that's a minor quibble. The last song reminds me of LFO or Orbital. https://minamideutschggb.bandcamp.com/

Slow Dawn- Into The Machine Haus: 6 songs in 22 minutes. Plenty of tremelo and reverb, various pacing. Good stuff. https://slowdawncf.bandcamp.com/

Snuff Rider- Feaster EP: Finnish psych noise-mongers. https://snuffrider.bandcamp.com/album/feaster-ep

Soundwire- S/T: I thought this might be too Indie Psych/Psych-lite/by numbers but its better than that. Reminiscent perhaps of The Voices or the Early Years more psych moments. I'm also hearing some Pale Saints in there too. https://soundwiremusic.bandcamp.com/album/soundwire

Psychic Graveyard & USA Nails- Split: Each band takes a side each and i think i prefer PG's. It's got a pleasantly disorientating quality to it at times that works well with the groove. Reminded me a bit of Metz and then i saw that they were touring together! USA Nails side hits hard at times but i'd have liked them to distort the fuck out of the guitars. No-wave, noise rock and post punk i guess are the reference points across the whole album. https://skingraftrecords.bandcamp.com/album/split

It occurs to me that i haven't listened to any Funk/Soul/Ska/Reggae/Afrobeat in absolute yonks. Aside from the odd bit of Techno occasionally i just seem to be locked into guitars for way too long now.
