Interview raised my hopes that it was going to be a ska /rocksteady lp  That clip sounds like just another Panda Bear record.
Is it an actual Sonic & PB album or is he just handling production/mixing duties again?

Anyone got any other tidbits about this album?
Wonder how close it is to release now.
I did a bit of googling and I don't think its too far off. The impression also seems to be its a full collaboration rather than Sonic just producing.
I think there's a lot of potential there.

I like it. Not sure it needed Sonic's vocals though! Duly ordered the lp.

Kinda goes well with the hot weather doesn't it!

That first song definitely focuses more on the Panda Bear vocals, but a lot of the synths sound more like Pete's last album. I hope it's a proper 50/50 collaboration

The single is bloody excellent, and sounds like a proper collaboration. Sonic said that Noah really pushed him to contribute vocals and lyrics as well as sounds.

I'm really excited for this album. Ordered the yellow vinyl. There's a Bandcamp exclusive clear pink vinyl limited to 500 copies, but it's a tenner more, and the shipping is a two or three quid more than the shipping on the yellow, too, making it very expensive. Clear vinyl nearly always sounds like shit, as well, so swerved that one, even if it looked nice.

That seems about right for vinyl at the moment.

Took about 6 months from release to get the last 40 Watt Sun LP. Digital release was 2nd week of January, vinyl arrived in June.

Yup i really like that song too. More immediately catchy and very Beach Boys. Less Pete influence on the face of it though

They are doing a listening event in a few days, that should be good

Don't think its leaked. This is the release.date.

November date is for the vinyl.

I love it. On my 3rd consecutive listen and not bored in the slightest yet. Album of the year contender.

Yep, got the official d/l from Domino this morning. Proabably won't get to listen 'til tomorrow morning. I'm a bit worried it's going to be too Panda Bear for me but we shall see.

Me too. I was vaguely hesitant as although some of Panda Bear's stuff was decent I wasn't that into it. This collaboration works a treat as both Noah and Pete take turns with the songs. I don't mind the hefty Brian Wilson angle as it's so beautifully done. Edge of the Edge is particularly wonderful. And indeed, a terrific summer album!

Hi

Anyone know if any more of the pink vinyl versions will be pressed or does anyone have one spare? I missed out on one as never got an email saying they were available (I'm on the mailing list) until after they had sold out. I have a yellow vinyl on pre order and was really happy to have got copies of ATBE and ANINE. Would have loved a pink vinyl of this to add to the multiple versions I do like buying of new Sonic/Spz related releases. Listening to a digital version now and really loving it. Really happy that Sonic's being quite prolific of late and turning out some really good stuff...

I love Everyday, it's pure Sonic vibes, even down to the Amen/Hey Man riff in it :D

In keeping with their long standing partnership, Panda Bear and Sonic Boom (aka Noah Lennox and Pete Kemper) have teamed up again to create Reset, a collection of songs that started with Sonic Boom sending song length two track samples pulled from his vinyl collection to Panda Bear to write to. The result is an album that sounds like Summer with lyrical themes of hope and the need for common ground. Noah and Pete caught up with Geoff Stanfield from their homes in Portugal to discuss.

I am definitely enjoying the album myself. On first listen it's possibly a bit sugary and too Panda Bear focused but it gets better on repeated listens.

Pete was chatting on a Sonic Treasures show recently about the samples used for the intros on some of the songs on Reset. There was a mix which included these five:

Three Steps To Heaven - Eddie Cochran
Save The Last Dance For Me - The Drifters
Denise - Randy & The Rainbows
Love of My Life - Everly Brothers
Give It To Me - The Troggs

All great intros and it made me appreciate what Sonic Boom & Panda Bear have done with these to make the songs they did. I’m not sure about the other four tracks on Reset, I think Pete mentioned he only got round to doing about half of the mix for the show.

There's a free Reset slipmat available with the lp at some record shops.

I have also only just realised that the front cover spells Reset. I had just seen some coloured shapes with random black dots up 'til now

A record shop has reserved the yellow vinyl for me and looking forward to this extended version of the album too. Hoping to get a black vinyl one too.

Still gutted I never got an email notification of the pink vinyl until after they'd all gone! I bought three versions of ATBE and as well as ANINE.

Just to be clear; the slipmat didn't come with the preorder. You had to buy the album over the counter in an actual shop and you would get the slipmat with your purchase (if it was a participating store and they had them in stock).

Can't help but think they missed a trick not naming the tracks "Getting to the Dub", "Edge of the Dub", "Living in the Dub" etc. though.

Sherwood At The Controls...indeed :D On first listen it's bloody great. Just a pity it didn't come out during that blast of good weather we had in May and early June.
I would have liked a little less vocals tbh but that's a tiny, tiny quibble. I'll be returning to this a lot. Looking forward to hearing Runcible's opinion on it.

Sonic should let Sherwood loose on All Things Being Equal.

I really like it. I loved the Whirlpool Dub taster but I've been enjoying the rest of it over the last few days. I'm less into the closing 2 tunes as I love the originals of those so much. The strings & guitar sample on the original Livin In The After, which I find irresistible, are pretty much absent on the dub version. It's nice but I want that flamenco angle!

I'm still absorbing it all but it sounds pretty excellent and a wonderful idea. Pete mentioned this project at his show with Noah in Leeds but I almost didn't believe it possible til Whirlpool appeared.

This whole collaboration is proving extremely worthwhile!
