Wilko Johnson RIP

Post by BROKENHEART »

Wilko Johnson, one of the finest rythm and blues and pub rock guitarists that I've seen in my lifetime. It was difficult to see how he managed to get the sounds he got from his guitar whilst you watched him.
Fronting with Lee Brilleaux in Dr Feelgood a class act.
RIP Wilko Johnson.

That’s sad news indeed.

Quite a few years ago I saw him interviewed on breakfast TV when he discovered he had a large tumour and been told he had months to live. He was inspirational and went on about how he felt this had given him an optimistic view of things and he wanted to make the most of the time he had. It was brilliant to watch. Of course he managed to overcome that awful diagnosis and went on for many more years, but I won’t forget how excited he was to embrace the opportunities he had left. A lovely chap and a terrific guitarist.
