Favorite songs on headphones?

Post by swmcsherry »

Just charged up some decent headphones I haven't used in a long time, to prep for travel later today.

The first song I wanted to listen to was "Starálfur" from Sigur Rós, and the neck tingles from this experience were amazing.

Next was "A Girl Like You" from The Wolfgang Press - not tingly, but fun nonetheless 😁

Next is all of Pure Phase, just because. (Current tingles are courtesy of "Let it Flow".)

If you don't mind sharing, what are your favorite headphone-testing songs? The range of music discussed here is horizon-expanding, so I imagine headphone recs would not disappoint!

Thanks,
S.

Give this a try, the last song, Masters of Earth. 19 minutes of pure proggy Floydy joy. https://ampacity.bandcamp.com/album/encounter-one

I always think of this song when trying out new headphones. I’ve always been so impressed by the sound of the kit and use it as a bit of a reference.

Mezzanine by Massive Attack is a good test. Quite a dynamic record.

One of my favorite albums, although I think I wrote in another post that I've had weird experiences while driving and listening to them. Wouldn't be driving with headphones on though, of course, so would be safer 😁

Thank you!

A personal 'headphone favorite' is Propaganda's 'Dream within a dream'. The song is so layered, reminds me of the long 'feel so sad' version, which is BTW also a great headphone song!

I think I just get caught up in the music or something. First was a large-ish speeding ticket, second was an accident on a bridge where someone cut me off, then trying to avoid that person I lost control and zig-zagged across 6 lanes at rush hour without hitting anyone (except the Jersey barriers on the side) or being hit! Ended up with a totaled car, and a mostly-ok me.

So, weird experiences - not GOOD weird, unfortunately 😁
