Jason sings / sampled on Dumb Angel by Department
"Department’s debut album Dumb Angel, self-released in September, builds on that epiphany with a maximalist collage that sometimes sounds like an unlikely all-star jam in an alternate universe. On “Dreams of Youth,” vocals from multiple Ariana Grande songs are mixed and matched in a virtual duet with Jason Pierce of Spiritualized".

Edit - Its a bit all over the place really.
Actually got confused at first and thought it was Jason croaking along in the background to this track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZksCXWOKZJI It can't be it guess, but it hangs together better.

for real gluttons for punishment, there is also this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gqU46MunQs - part 3 of a 3 song 'suite'. You can hear Jason's vocals somewhere in the middle

If it's any consolation..."Provided to YouTube by DistroKid"...2 subs...13 views in 2 months.clewsr wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 11:19 am for real gluttons for punishment, there is also this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gqU46MunQs - part 3 of a 3 song 'suite'. Nobody's making any money on this. The guy's numbers are worse than my self-released jazz album.
Actually he's losing money because he would have had to license all the interpolated songs ($12 per song).

makes one nostalgic for this, always liked it, despite the dodgy change in the middle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=331S-4E1WIc

That's kind of got me thinking about key changes. Are they ever acceptable? Have they ever been done well, that is to say, so that you just about get away with it? Golden Lady by Stevie Wonder is a rare example. Send yours.

I've always found this song to be quite magnificent, a favourite in fact. It has a key change towards the end.Spacekadet wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 8:35 pm That's kind of got me thinking about key changes. Are they ever acceptable? Parts & Labor - Nowheres Nigh (sic)

I actually picked this as my song of the year for 2008 when I was doing radio stuff, but we had a public vote for song of the year and it actually lost out to Spiritualized.
This was the top 5 of the vote:
5 - The Anomalies – Kid Riot
4 - Spiritualized – Soul On Fire
3 - Parts And Labor – Nowheres Nigh
2 - Glasvegas – Daddy’s Gone
1 - Spiritualized – Sweet Talk
But Nowheres Nigh was my top choice. Maybe it just takes a few more listens and I didn't play it on the airwaves enough... or maybe I just have awful taste...
