If they could encore with other things they were playing around that time (i.e. Things'll Never Be The Same) it might just be one of the best evenings ever.

Blimey, this is something I thought would never happen.

guaranteed for there to be no moaning about them only playing new stuff :)
not sure what it will sound like, it might be tricky if we actually compare it to the actual Pure Phase tour, it certainly won't sound like that. But just very intrigued to see what it will be like and hear a lot of those wonderful songs.

Now, do I do Manchester or London?.. any views on what is the better venue? I've been to Manchester Apollo before but not the Barbican.
EDIT- actually just saw that the Bristol show is on a Saturday night.. choices choices

actually I just checked and the Barbican gig is the day before Six Organs of Admittance in London... might turn it into a 2 day thing for me..

Am i the only one who would have preferred LGM?

Bolt from the blue alright. Like angelsighs i'll have to make a decision on which one to go for. For me it probably depends on where the most forumites are going.

LGM may possibly be the better album, but I think PP would probably work better live. more dynamic.
Pure Phase tone to break main set and encore.. nice.

There's nothing obvious on the site, so I expect you have to have an account. I've not bought from the store before but signed up today just in case. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I think I am on the mailing list, but emails are so intermittent it's hard to remember exactly.

Honestly don't think they will sell out super quickly anyway.

I am just still a bit torn on which date to go to. I didn't realise that Bristol Beacon is new name for Colston Hall, nice venue. Looks like Manchester Apollo is the smallest venue. around 900 if it's seated (assume it will be) whereas the others are more like 1000-1500

I also wonder if there will be strings etc. The Ladies and Gents shows clearly billed that when they were announced. Pure Phase is a funny one though as there's only extra instruments on a few tracks. It's actually a fairly minimalistic album in it's own way.

According to the Barbican box office the only way to access pre-sale there is to become a member, £59 for the year for anyone interested 😬

Pre-sale appears to be for venue members. Just checked Bristol and it's £45 to become a member. It lists the ticket prices as £38.15 - £56.68.

I'm excited for these gigs but i've a lot of trepidation too. What will they sound like, how will the songs be arranged, will we get an encore mostly comprised of ballads? It could be wonderful but there's a chance it could be poor too.

I need to develop some personal positive vibes again

I bet they're going to have an orchestra and choir. I saw them perform "Spread Your Wings" with it, and it was the most amazing thing ever. Come on, it's Pure Phase!

Glasgow is the smallest venue of the four announced. All venues should be pretty easy to get to if you wanted to visit more than one – Manchester is just over 3 hours on the train from Glasgow, and that would probably be the longest travel time between any of the gigs.

As much as i always enjoy a Spz show, Jason really can be his own worst enemy when it comes to setlists. Initial tours of new, recent albums have been great to hear the songs live, but have run the risk of losing a bit of momentum with some song selections during the shows, which is fine if thats what he chooses to play; I'll always be happy to see the band again, but i know they can lift things so much higher!

I think the PP album is really great and i can't see there being an issue with playing that itself as there is a great mix of songs/noise on that, but i would really hope they would finish the show off with some of the other tracks from that era, either recorded or live. As someone suggested above, closing out with Things'll Never... would be a great way to send the show off to the stratosphere!

Regardless, i hope These Blues is a rocked-out motherfucker, just like they used to do! :D

I'm most excited for Take Good Care Of It. I know i'm in the minority here but i've always loved the album version (possibly my favourite track on PP) and would be delighted to see it stretched out to 10 minutes. In saying that, the live versions from 92-95 are great too.
Of course would also love to hear Things'll Never... but at the proper tempo, not the way they were playing it circa 2004 when it was much too slow.

Such amazing and totally unexpected news. I too am torn between going for the Bristol or London shows. Living just outside of Brighton, the London date is obviously the closest but it’s midweek and I like the idea of a weekend trip to Bristol. Either way, Mrs Shines will be accompanying me and I’ve already made some not so subtle hints that tickets for either show would be the ideal Christmas present to me  Fingers crossed for tickets as I would love to hear this album played in full. I wonder if more dates are going to be announced if these prove successful.

I'm not sure there will be more dates. With the L&G shows I think there was maybe 12 or 13 in total worldwide over the course of a year? I'm certainly not banking on an Irish date been announced anytime soon. I'm opting for Glasgow at the moment unless my mate decides to change his mind.

I’m just looking at those 2 nights between the London and Bristol shows and wondering whether they’re thinking of an extra night or two depending on demand. But, then again, I’m not sure Spiritualized have that kind of draw, even with the playing in full of a classic album.

This is amazing news, a dream show for me for sure. I feel like the Manchester venue is a bit big for this album, but I do like it and hope they sell it comfortably. I absolutely cannot wait.

I also got giddy when I saw the Manchester Apollo date (the scene of the first gig I attended back in 1982) but when I checked the Gigs And Tours website it shows three different ticket prices (the Apollo used to be fully seated but around thirty years ago they made the downstairs seats removable, a far better arrangement in my opinion), so I'm guessing it'll be a fully seated gig which for me is a minus point. The Bridgewater Hall gig (fully seated) two years ago was a bit muted and didn't really suit the band at all but the standing only gig at New Century Hall was fucking amazing and the best I've seen them in years. I was really hoping they'd play there again (they also played the LAGWAFIS gig at the Apollo in 2009 and I did enjoy it but, much as I like the place, it'd be far more attractive proposition to have standing only downstairs (I'll still go, though).

If I hadn't made two trips over within 8 months I would be tempted. It would definitely be Manchester if I did make the trip.
If they could capture half the intensity of those 90's Pure Phase era shows y'all are in for a treat. They were amazing.
Pretty sure this current band can handle it.

As far as I can tell, the Glasgow presale is through ATG tickets (who are the theatre group), and you need to be a paid-up member to access it.

Glasgow booked via PCL Link, very very excited for this!

Now, I will be buzzing if I can just get a presale link for the Barbican.

Not being a tight arse, but I live in Scotland, and there is no point in my buying an annual membership at the Barbican for £59

I cannot express how excited I am for this show! PP is my favourite album, and the Barbican is IMHO the best venue in London for sound.

Glad I splashed out on a membership as I got absolutely perfect seats in centre stalls. All of which are gone now!

I also agree that I can't see extra dates necessarily being added. I think they will sell out, but will be more of a slow and steady thing.

big agree on that, love the spacey dubbed out album version with the sax line floating through it.
The thing that makes this interesting is that not many of these songs have even been played live that much lately (unlike Ladies and Gentlemen tunes). As others have said, I am not sure how good this is gonna be or what it will sound like, but thats part of what makes it exciting. It will certainly be a unique Spiritualized show, whereas recent shows you kind of knew what you were going into.

Yes, neither the Dublin or London gig has been listed on the Six Organs website but is on ticket seller websites and I bought a ticket from the venue website. Now that the Spz date is so close, to that it's causing me a dilemma. Want to go to both but can't really book a night or two in a hotel. I live 3 hrs away, so a trek both days isn't ideal. I might book tickets for Glasgow and then combine a trip home to see the folks. Really not sure. I'm still half expecting more of either shows to be announced, maybe even Europe, and that might help with logistics one way or another. Would it have hurt for them both to liaise with their dates?

Managed to get Barbican tickets with presale membership. Really looking forward to this. Hoping I won't pop my clogs b4 they do a LGM live tour.
I spoke to John Coxon a while back and he mentioned that he had really bad tinnitus so not sure if he'll be around for the PP thing.

Stalls are the ground floor seats directly in front of the stage, seating plan here:

http://theatreroyalglasgow.net/seating-plan/

You won't be able to select specific seats through seetickets unfortunately, just the area of the venue. If you want to select your seat then I would expect you to be able to do that via the ATG link (you can for other shows they currently have on sale, so the Spiritualized gig should be the same), but you'd have to wait on the general sale starting later this week if you don't have access to the presale via an ATG membership.

I was able to choose my section (stalls, dress circle, upper balcony. etc.) when selecting which of the tickets i wanted, and was allocated 4 decent seats together. No pillars thankfully, and only a few rows of seats in front of me too, so should have a really good view.

Are the stalls for Glasgow sold out already?

Would've been good if we'd been a bit more informed about the ticket release times. I assumed it was only the Barbican that was getting presale and everything else was released on Friday morning

Getting tickets for pretty much any gigs these days is an ordeal.

I would expect more stalls tickets will be available in the general sale

there will 100% be more stalls in the proper sale.

I am flipping back and forth between Bristol and London currently. I put my leave request in for that week so London might still be doable, but two nights will get expensive with the Six Organs show as well. hotel costs seem to have gone through the roof post covid.

angelsighs the 900 capacity seats are the permanent seats in the circle at The Apollo. standing downstairs normally, but seats go in and out as required. I would say capacity is about 2000 all seated, way too big for this album as James T rightly says. But hell i don't care as this quite amazing news and tickets purchased

ah okay cheers. seems like all the venues are a similar size then. to be honest ideally these would be standing gigs for me. it would give it a different feel and no worries about view

What counts as "premium seats" are these the first few rows of the stalls, or are they some fancy box way up?

This is definitely my top SPZ album, but I’ll have to travel far and wide to see it live...
Do you think he’ll actually tour Europe and the US, or is it just a one-off tour?
I’m guessing it all comes down to how well the tickets sell... :?

Barbican update before the main sale at 10am:

As of now there are some decent side stalls seats left at £70. Centre stalls all gone.
Circle at £60 and £50 still good availability, although the first couple of rows in the centre are gone
Balcony still front row at £50 available, but you are high up there.

If I could just post an image here I'd put up a screen grab, but I can't be arsed to go through all the hosting URL malarkey...

Got Barbican tickets. Can't wait. Think I'll spend the rest of the day waiting for the adrenaline to wear off.

Two tickets got for Glasgow. Went through the ATG site and i could choose what seats i wanted. The prime central ones were gone but i'm happy with what i got, (Stalls row D) just hope we're not too close to the stage!
