Unexpected music appearing on TV

watching a comedy drama on channel 4 called Pure.
There must be a Spiritualized fan in their midst, as so far both So Long You Pretty Thing and All Of My Thoughts have been on the soundtrack.

Made me smile to hear Suicide's 'Cheree' appear in a perfume ad last night. Think the scent was called Daisy but it was the standard baffling dynamic of most perfume ads...

I just watched the final episode of Season 2 of Superstore in which a tornado wreaks havoc on the store. The aftermath is taken in with the song Into Dust by Mazzy Star. I like this show because it reminds me of the time I worked for a superstore in midwestern USA some years ago.

Kingdom of Heaven by The 13th Floor Elevators appeared at the end of True Detective Season 1 episode 2. Now I'm checking out some of their other music. I know they have been talked about here, but I've never looked into them until now.

A bizarre note-for-note cover of the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" appears in the recent Disney Cruella de Vil prequel!

It was also used last season on Brooklyn 99 for a (hilarious) shot where a fat corgi named Cheddar runs toward the camera. It was just the instrumental intro so they were expecting the audience to get the joke just from that.

I recently discovered old US cop show The Shield which is excellent. A good soundtrack too so possibly not totally unexpected but when Ween's 'It's Gonna Be A Long Night' appeared I had to smile.

I watched the 1st series of this show when it came out and then lost it in the tv schedules after that then came back to it earlier this yr and watched it all, great show, #VicMackie

Never actually heard it myself but I`ve heard recently that Spacemen 3`s Big City is in the most recent episode in S3 of Sky`s Succession drama, big fan of this show, both previous series were superb, when I get round to watching S3 probably over the festive period my ears will be trained to detect Big City

Spectrum’s magnificent ‘How You Satisfy Me’ is used prominently in ‘Priscilla’- Sofia Coppola’s film about Priscilla Presley. It’s also in the trailer, I think. Not the first song you’d think of in an Elvis movie!

Johnny Halifax and The Invocations - Mountain Dub played by Gideon Coe on 6 music this morning. Heard it in the car without knowing who it was...but pretty much knew who it was. Sounded very like Spiritualized. I believe the LP will.be out soon. Something to look forward to.

I was very depressed to read about the death of Olivia Tremor Control's Will Cullen Hart recently. It was quite a surprise to find The band's classic 'Opera House' appearing in the fluffy Ted Danson comedy A Man On The Inside on Netflix recently. But a nice touch.

I also smiled when The Clean's 'Anything Could Happen' appeared in the powerful New Zealand drama 'After The Party'. Made me revisit a load of their stuff. Another massively underrated band.
