Around 1995 a buddy of mine who worked at a record shop handed me a Spiritualized Promo VHS cassette. It had an interview, some Spacemen 3 videos, and they did a brilliant version of Medication in the MTV studio. I heard there were more songs, but I don't know how to get them. If someone has a digital version of this, that would make a great Christmas present. The interview was really funny. I think I have the tape still at my folks house, but I'd love to see the rest of the songs. I doubt they played it on the air because the song Medication uses the word fuck but I'm not sure. This was the U/K 120 Minutes but was used for an Arista promo tape that went to record shops.

Awesome, can't wait to see it.

The interview included the awesome line, "If you could fill your studio with anything you wanted, what would it be?"

"I'd rather not answer that question right now"

Someone must have it!

You guys don't have the video? These are just mp3s. I'd love to see Kate's legs and that awesome light show. Also he plays the guitar with the 3 on it. And they have a trumpet player. We need the video.

She had an awesome keyboard. One where the black and white keys are reversed. Jason had the regular, "3" sticker guitar and the whole thing looked entirely rediculous on the MTV sound stage with the strobe lights and all.

i remember seeing the version of medication, it was pretty badass. i think it's notably different for some reason, maybe because you get to see jason really battering his guitar. i saw it online, so i guess it's around somewhere. maybe the guy with the vhs could pass it on to someone who could encode it ..?

I'm sure i've got this taped somewhere.

If memory serves there was the Run video, Hypnotised video, Anyway That You Wat Me video, Medication live in the MTV studio and Let It Flow video - think it was during the promoting of Pure Phase.

Jason was interviewed in between the videos by Miles Hunt from the Wonder Stuff. Poor Miles would've been better speaking to a brick wall as the Spaceman clearly couldn't be arsed.

He did though explain that he sacked the orginal band members beacuse he was fed up telling them what/how to play.

10ent described it exactly. He did very well in that interview, the interviewer asked some very leading questions that would have been very incriminating for poor spaceman. Like the fill up your studio with anything you want question. He said some cool stuff about the band and about, "treading water" I think..

Are you sure?
The interview is definately from 1995 because Jason says he could make 10 albums like Pure Phase but he wouldn't want to tread water. I obtained the video in 1995 or 1996 and used it for a high school project, so I know I have it somewhere. The band sounds more like the 1993 version of the band. I don't remember what they sounded like in 1992, but it didn't seem like the 1995 band. The thing is that I seem to remember Jason looked the same in the interview so I assumed the music was recorded at the same time. I suppose it is possible they recorded a few songs in 1992, and than that was combined with the interview for the Arista sampler VHS tape. I'm sure anyone can get this. Why don't you say you work at a record store and contact Arista for a copy? It was a promo video and I'm sure it isn't limited or anything. I will try to go to mom's house and get my copy this weekend...The problem is, I don't have a VHS casette player. Anyway, we need all the songs. Does anyone think we could contact MTV for the whole set?

well it looks like the audio i uploaded wasn't even from the same thing you all are talking about, because it's:
angel sigh
smiles
shine a light/clear rush
and
medication.
all live.
so, sorry about that, but do download it if you get the chance cos it's quite good listening!

edit- oh, hi jonny!
so, is this the set you did from 92?
maybe that's helpful in finding the video.

The interview/videos i was talking about was definitely after the summer of 94 as Miles Hunt didn't do 120 minutes for MTV until after the Stuffies split up (which was the summer of 94).

No doubt there was more of the live stuff but it was only Medication that MTV played as part of Jason's interview.

Sorry i can't upload this as i'm technologically challenged.

What I meant is..What happened between you and the band that you can't even get a copy of this video we've been looking for? You played an awesome show (I used that video for a project in school and watched it over and over again) so I was just wondering if you had some kind of falling out or just quit the band? Don't want any drama, just sort of curious why you aren't still the drummer.

Hey Jonny,
Thanks for chatting with us. If you don't get a copy, I do have the Arista promo video at my mom's house, and plan on looking for it this weekend. Unfortunately, that only has Medication. I really would love to see the whole thing.
Take care,

Maybe this guy has it, I e-mailed him:

Spiritualized at Glastonbury 1998...one of the very muddy ones , and I was there.

Lineage: tv broadcast>vhs>cdr>eac>wav>flac front end. The full broadcast was later on, when Jools Holland used to present full Glastonbury gigs, alas no more.

3) Home of the Brave(6:26).
4) Ladies and Gentlemen(3:23).

6) Come Together(5:21).
7) I Think I am In Love(8:21).
8) Oh Happy Day(5:33).

MTV'S 120 minutes session 16 August 1992

tv broadcast>vhs>cdr

9) Angel Sigh.

I had to go into the attic. It is an interview with Jason (GREAT) lots of videos and than Medication live in the studio. I tried to convert it to DVD and now the TV tuner doesn't work and I've been online with HP tech support for hours. When I'm done with this I'll make a DVD with this and the other VHS tape I found.

This video is so awesome.
First off, if anyone has the 3 other songs played, you should send them to me so I can make a DVD with the interview, Medication, than the 3 other songs.....

I'll make it a DVD now so it will be
1. Run
2. Interview Why Electric Mainline, Lineup changes, new drummer Jason doesn't really know about..Pure Phase is delayed because Jason thinks Christmas music is rubbish.
3. Video:Hypnotized
4. Interview: "With Spacemen I tried to chase symphonies in my head and was always disapointed...
5. Video: Anyway that you want me
6. Medication Live in MTV studios
7. How Did you start working with Rico?
If you could fill the studio with anything you want, what would it be?
8. Let It Flow
9. I am considering put Angel Sigh which someone else posted and some other TV clips at the end...

I'm very open to trades.

At some point you will all be able to get this on the RCW DVD series I want to work on.
