Spectrum Gig
Just to add that Indian Giver is the best Spectrum album for years and now they are playing at the Legion on the 17th July. After the Concorde 2 gig and now this, it looks like it's going to be a brilliant month!!!!

Re: Spectrum Gig
I have video of "Transparent Radiation," "When Tomorrow Hits," and "Walking & Falling" from the June 24th gig at Roundhouse... will post youtubes as soon as they are up.
Re: Spectrum Gig
Now this I would love to see and I do hope Pete brings it Stateside. The last Spectrum show that came through town was actually just Pete on his own. A full band would be excellent and warmly received.
Re: Spectrum Gig
Good video. Thanks!

Re: Spectrum Gig
does anyone know what sonic is using to make that "whooshing" sound in the video for transparent radiation, is it a flanger with some random note playing through it?
or what
or what
Re: Spectrum Gig
It's white noise thru a filter that is slowly modulated.marcvolta wrote:does anyone know what sonic is using to make that "whooshing" sound in the video for transparent radiation, is it a flanger with some random note playing through it?

...something like that.

Re: Spectrum Gig
Was the line-up just the three folks I can see in the videos? If so where was the lead guitar line coming from...backing track
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

Re: Spectrum Gig
That makes more sense, although what made me think it was backing tape was partly the fact that the lead line sounded so similar to the one played by Jason P on the original recordings; he's clearly a decent guitar-player.yalda wrote:no no no, there was lead guitar.... i think his name's rupert? he is sitting down, to the far right, i didnt catch him much on film because of where i was standing but if you pay close attention you could see him... from a far he kind of resembles jason pierce
Watching those 2 videos has made me even more frustrated I can't get to the gig w/Early Years at The Legion, and not sure I'm gonna be able to go to Truck, where the Sunday line up for the stage curated by Sonic Cathedral sounds too good to be true. I'm loving Indian Giver and 'Mary' sounds like it would really rock live.

Thanks Yalda for posting the videos!! And yeah, Mary sounds great live!!
Re: Spectrum Gig
I wish England was in California... It seems like all my favorite bands are either long gone, or have little chance of coming to the western coast of the United States to play. From the YouTube videos, it looks great. You can only go so far with a one-man band like Sonic was doing previously, so I hope the full band continues.

Re: Spectrum Gigs & US tour .
hiya ,
yeah - I wish England was in California too, but i'm sorta pleased California is'nt in England (it'd burst for one...).Summer here is slow taking hold this year.
thanks for the kind posts . yep , Rupert Bowkett certainly played great at those shows - he's taken to wah & drones like a duck to water . He's getting better all the time - I suspect u aint seen nothing yet. The 2nd London & 2nd Manc gigs were definately better shows . Props to Nolan (of the Rats) ,and Andrea Scarfone for ace bass duties too & Ian Worral (an old whore/hand of yore).
It was great to get a full band 2gether at fairly short notice for these historic shows . Its always been a joy to do stuff with MBV & it was heartwarming to be asked after so many years ' mining t' coal-face of pop-u-lar culture '(courtesy Mark Radcliffe...hehe).
We'll be doing MBV ATP in NYC in sept. & some other stuff in some larger cities , all with the full band .
looking forward to it.....

I know we are not one of the "larger cities" but I hope you bring the full band to Portland.
