Warmth: Vulture: New Album

Post by TheWarmth »

The new Warmth album, Vulture, is finally done. 100 copies were pressed on cd and and come in hand-numbered, thick, LP-style full color sleeves. These were prepared by Sam Giles, the same guy who does the sleeves for The Heads. Below is a link to our website where you can stream the entire album or purchase a copy for home use:

Here's a free, high-quality mp3 of the first song on the album. Right click (control-click for Mac users) to download the song or just click to stream:

Pressed from ancient molds or, more often, forged in rotary kilns, the music of The Warmth has primarily been discovered floating just below the surface of small bodies of water and is best suited to soundtrack stories told in cave paintings. Carl Saff (interpreter) and Paul Foreman (raw materials specialist) remain steadfast as the unlikely curators of these artifacts, ensuring proper care and documentation. 2006 saw the release of the sprawling, birch bark and clay series, Fox & Weathervane. The motivation behind the original creation of this material has been widely speculated on, though no definitive conclusion has been reached. From 2007 through late 2009, Saff and Foreman employed a unique, controlled vocabulary and melodic nomenclature in interpreting their most recent findings, referred to simply as Vulture.

hey paul. did i ever send you my review? overall i found it an enjoysble album although some places it got too doors-ey for me. it's a good cd but lacks that individuality that will set it apart from the other good cds

thanks for sending me a copy to listen too

best,

ben

I've been meaning to say something on this for ages but I'm snowed under with new music thanks to the kindness of people here so I'm playing catch up.

A pleasant listen throughout and great to get things done to. I actually preferred some of this to Soft Speaker which I found surprising. Two tracks - Alarm Pheromone and A-Z - were particularly enjoyable.

A little more investigation required but I have about 9 albums piled up demanding to be heard!

Great, Mark . Thanks. Glad you're digging it so far.

Ben ... The Doors? Man, that is an unexpected comparison.

Yeah, I must admit I was quite surprised with the Doors comparison....can't hear it myself. Think I have already given you some feedback on this Paul, but gave it another listen today and, although its not something I would usually listen to, I found it really chilled and easy to drive along too. I think I prefer it over the Soft Speaker material altough I find the vocal styles quite similar in places....is it the same singer? Aegean Sea is still my favourite but I'm also a big fan of Pursuit of Wealth, Harvester's Hand and Alarm Pheremone (though I could have done with the ending of the song being even further extended). My one criticism would be that in places I felt there was room for the electronica element of the music to come more to the fore. Overall a really enjoyable, laid back album, a break from all the white noise and pyschedelic drone rock I've been listening to recently.

Paul, I must have missed your original post a few weeks ago, so I've just ordered a copy now. Looking forward to hearing it.
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

Ads: I split lead vocal duties in Soft Speaker with our other guitarist, so you're spot on there. I appreciate all the feedback! I'm shipping out a few packages today to those of you who made a purchase. Thanks!!!

I didn't realise it was you doing the vocals on The Warmth album Paul....for some reason I had you down as the instrumentalist. Don't know why....maybe it was seeing your amp and guitar in the Instruments section on here. So, is it you on vocals on I Stand to Lose My Fortune Easy and Into The Fog on The Soft Speaker EP?.....The vocals that I compared to Marc Almond?!

Yeah, that's me on vocals on the whole Warmth album and then on Fortune, Fog and Marble Mask on the latest Soft Speaker EP. To be honest, I don't really know much about Marc Almond aside from a few of the big Soft Cell hits.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't know much about Marc Almond or of his work outside of Soft Cell either but just felt there was something in the vocal style that you share with him.

Ha-ha! I hope that feeling doesn't transfer over too much to my stuff, since I apparently sound like the dude.

Paul, finally got around to listening to this last night...apologies, busy and that...

I really like the layered thing going on - I dunno how many tracks build up in that song has but I dig it!

I also like that occasional funky drummer beat in the left ear!

Is that you singing then? I like the close harmonies - a bit like the Byrds or Thom Yorke maybe...not sure about the Marc Almond soundalike thing (Ads??? ) although I wouldn't have guessed the singer was from the US!

I guess it's a fair jump on from the last song by you guys I heard years ago, courtesy of a comp from Veiko, which I believe was a much more acoustic thing.

Anyway, keep up the good work...
