Choose your perfect setlist using only songs from A&E onwards.

Post by heisenberg »

A thread based on angelsighs idea posted in the gigs section.

P.s.- I haven't heard the new album yet. I'll maybe post a revised version later down the line. Based on what I'm familiar with as of writing here's mine.

Hey Jane
You Lie You Cheat
Always Together With You
A Perfect Miracle
I'm Your Man
A Song
Let's Dance
On The Sunshine
Don't Hold Me Close
Heading For The Top Now
Damaged
I am What I am
Borrowed Your Gun
The Morning After
The Prize
Sail On Through

Encore
Goodnight Goodnight
So Long You Pretty Thing
Free your Mind (Spz version)

The A Song
Always Together With You

(I actually like the way these songs sound together, might make it into a playlist)

Just over two hours for this mythical setlist is over half of the 3 hours and 29 minutes for the last four albums. Fortunately the albums are so strong it's not too hard to create a two hour concert.

Here's mine. I feel that if you chose the 'wrong' songs from this era, it could be pretty dull but if this was the setlist I would be blown away.
I also haven't heard the new album yet so have just chosen from the songs I do know.
Good to see other people choose Get What You Deserve, I think that's a great song that doesn't get mentioned much!

Hey Jane
Perfect Miracle
Get What You Deserve
You Lie You Cheat
Let's Dance
Baby I'm Just A Fool
On The Sunshine
Sitting On Fire
Too Late
I Am What I Am
Always Forgetting With You
The Morning After
The A Song
Heading For The Top
Sail On Through

Good shout with Sitting on Fire- how could I forget that one?! You've inspired a rethink.

I prefer the acoustic version of the song (specifically the iTunes festival version), so I would love if he came out and played it with just the singers for backing. Or even an abridged version like he did with Hold On on the last tour. Then the band could kick in with some full-on noise before they break into Hey Jane.

Sitting on Fire (intro)
Hey Jane
You Lie You Cheat
Always Together With You
A Perfect Miracle
I'm Your Man
A Song
Let's Dance
On The Sunshine
Don't Hold Me Close
Heading For The Top Now
Damaged
I am What I am

Pretty much just went for the songs i really like rather than include 'ok' ones too.

Hey Jane
You Lie You Cheat
Get What You Deserve
On The Sunshine
Always Together With You
Sail On Through
I Am What I Am
Baby I'm Just A Fool
Heading For The Top Now
Best Thing You Never Had (The D Song)
Let It Bleed (For Iggy)
The Mainline Song
The A Song (Laid In Your Arms)
The Morning After

First and last tie in 'Jane' and provides a big wigout at the end. No encore.

Yup, actually the acoustic version what kinda what I was thinking of as well. That blew me away from the get go, so warm and melancholy. The electric version was fine but bit of a mood killer in an electric set (always tricky thing with the pacing with this band!). I guess i was envisaging some kind of platonic ideal version of the song! The emotiveness of the acoustic version, but maybe with Doggen off the leash a bit and adding some lead lines

No encore for me either. I couldn't really think of a suitable break for that. Just get on, crank it up, lots of segues between songs then see you later!
