where do spz go from here?
caffeine addled here but just thinking about the possibilities. what would you all like to see jayce doing with the next record or so..? i'm not sure of the consensus but amazing grace was a bit formulaic for me and that notion consistently struggles with the other one in my head that remembers how, uh, amazing those songs were live. so..
do spz get more raw?
more jazzy?
more freakoutey?
more ambient, ethereal, and spaced?
morrrrre.. dancepunk and rip off talking heads?
more accoustic, more droning, more dynamic with timing changes all over the place like rush and yes?
or do they go less? which i guess is another kind of more (minimal! hah)
what're your thoughts, have some good fun

Well, I'd like to see him write some lyrics that weren't an embarrassment. Maybe some set of metaphors that weren't the by-now-unchallenging set about drugs-n-salvation. And then...well, less 'raw' than AG (in the sense of being half-baked-three-chord rewrites of his own songs,) yet less gloppy than LICD. Neither of which I hate, exactly--and those descriptions are a bit unfair)--but the sense that he's been twisting his way down to autopilot seems inescapable, to me. I have lowered expectations for a future Spiz. Never thought I'd say it, but it's true.

You are $26, and I claim my Free Thesaurus.
Fat chance though. I don't think we've seen the logical/reductive conclusion of 'rawness' yet. Standby for songs, written that morning, being picked out one-finger on a piano, while the rest of the band join in as and when they get the idea, and lyrics where every line rhymes with the one before it because it's the same word. Or just a 45 minute jammed cover version of Sister Ray with a few different lyrics.

I for one am putting my vote in for more spacey, ethereal, "out there" kind of stuff. (Sort of like Dont Go (Stay With Me) or Angel Sigh. I wouldn't mind seeing some more "wall of sound" Spector-type stuff either. (Spread Your Wings, etc. I tend to like his stuff when he doesn't stint on the lyrics but really lets the instruments soar.

What's your name? 'Mr Lizard'
Go on J, release the DRUM N' BASS or album.
Or how about getting the live sound on record, no overdubs?
Will describes it pretty well.
I say bring back RAY MOONSHAKE, the sax is missed in the mix.
More head spinning effects, gently, is always great.
Ask PRIMAL SCREAM, or just record with them.
Any CHOIRS>?
This time have a different choir in each ear, and 69 guitar tracks also.
Or an album of country songs, duetting with Mimi Turner, doing Ramblin Rose in the style of Jerry Lee Lewis.

this could go down like a lead balloon but i think jason should get together with some really forward thinking producer/remixer(s) like matthew herbert, matmos - somebody who really puts soul and vision into electronic music. i think that'd be a really brave thing for him to do, i know he's been talking about the performance being critical in what he does these days but i'd just love to hear the results of a teaming like that, jasons songwriting meeting the fresh, new sounds of guys like those. a real studio project. i think in that sense j should take more chances.

I'd like to hear a collaboration between Jason and little known 80's no-hit wonder Peter Kember. He used to make such funny noises!
They could collaborate and make funny noises together, or possibly, once Peter has gotten used to the concept, have a go at melding mr Kember's trademark 'interesting' noodling with those fashionable 'song' things that Jason specialises in. They could call themselves The Astronauts and they'd sell more than Mogwai and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci combined.
